President Yahya Jammeh yesterday received in audience a special envoy of Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir at State House in Banjul.
Al-Haj Adam Yousif, vice president of Sudan, told waiting reporters after a closed-door meeting with President Jammeh that he handed over a message from President Al-Bashir relating to the bilateral relationship between the two countries, and on the latest developments in the relationship between Sudan and South Sudan.
“The message explained the positive developments, which have taken place after the last summit between President Bashir and Salva Kiir of South Sudan, and the agreements which have been reached between the two Presidents regarding the outstanding issues and the pending issues between the two countries,” Yousif told reporters.
According to him, he briefed President Jammeh about the positive developments, and Sudan’s readiness to honour all its commitments in the agreement.
“Moreover, President Yahya Jammeh explained the position of Gambia as regards support of Sudan in regional and international organizations,” he stated.
“He assured that Gambia will always support Sudan in international and regional institutions and that Gambia will keep its support to Sudan until peace will prevail in the whole country,” the Sudanese envoy added.
He went on to commend President Yahya Jammeh for “this position, and we wish him and the Gambia every progress.”
