Presently, most of the classrooms of the Quranic memorisation centre and its four subsidiary schools are made up of grass with no proper and enough chairs for the students.
Abdoulie Saho, a disciple of the caliph general of Kafrin village, said the schools need assistance, both cash and kind, from individuals, NGOs, Islamic organisations and the entire Muslim Ummah to create an environment conducive for learning.
On behalf of the caliph of Kafrin Alhaji Ebrima Nyass, who established the schools, Mr Saho said the management is appealing to the general public, especially to the Muslim Ummah, to give them a helping hand “for the sake of Allah”.
The principal of Alhaji Ebrima Nyass Quranic Memorisation Islamic Senior Secondary School, Abdoulie Ngallal, said the institution has an enrollment of 209 students: 53 girls, and 156 boys.
He said they also have four daras with 114 students under the Quranic memorisation school. The students of the schools are from both The Gambia and Senegal.
Mr Ngallal said the schools comprise 12 classrooms, with 4 English language and 12 Arabic teachers.
He said the major problems of the schools are insufficient and improper classrooms, lack of enough clothes for the students among others.
