Police
outfit Interior on Wednesday beat Armed Forces in the all-security derby of the
week-eleven fixtures of the 2013-2014 Gambia Football Federation (GFF) division
one league played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium.
Interior’s 1-0 win over Armed Forces has earned them 5th position on the league table with 15 points in eleven games four points behind league leaders Real De Banjul and 2nd-place Brikama United, who have snatched 19 points each and will be searching for a win in their games in the second round to keep their dreams of clinching their first-ever GFF division one league title.
Armed Forces’ 1-0 defeat to fellow security outfit Interior in the week-eleven fixtures left the soldiers second position from bottom with 10 points in eleven games and will be fighting tooth and nail for a win in their remaining eleven fixtures to keep their chances of staying in the premier tier next season as well as to boost their title ambition.
Telecommunications giants Gamtel defeated Hawks 1-0 in their week-eleven fixtures played at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium to close the gap to current league leaders Real De Banjul and 2nd-place Brikama United to only a single point with a game in hand against Samger.
Hawks have dropped 6th position on the league table after their slender defeat to telecommunications giants Gamtel, who are still searching for their first-ever GFF division one league title since gaining promotion to the country’s premier tier in the 90s.
