The Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS) wrote the biggest sports history in the annals of the institution by progressing to the second round of the ongoing NISA Football Tournament, following their narrow 1-nil victory over KMC, at Yundum playing ground last weekend.

A sensational first half header from Sheriff Darboe was more than enough to see the nation's pride through to the next stage of the competition for the first time in their history.

The GRTS team under the guidance of Coach Danjo are not resting on their laurels in their bid to win their first-ever title in its history.

They began the campaign with a bitterly fought 1-1 draw against Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital at the Sea View football ground since on the 19th of March, thanks to Musa Sanneh's second half strike to the delight of Coach Danjo, who was extremely delighted at his team's performance.

Danjo who spoke to this reporter in his office at GRTS yesterday afternoon, said he and his coaching staff will do what it takes to lift the NISA trophy with the team he described as the best ever side produced by the GRTS.

Danjo who spent 3 years in charge of the team remains positive about GRTS' possibility of winning their first-ever championship title, considering the formidable players at his disposal.

For his part, Sulayman Badjie, the Coordinator of GRTS team, who doubles as the PRO of NISA was equally impressed with what he referred to as his team's spectacular performance, which saw them progressing to the second round of the championship with a total of 5 points to their name.
