A two-day training course for sports journalists on fundamental sports journalism with special focus on media laws and ethics ended at the Gambia Press Union Secretariat in Fajara on Friday.
The course, organised by the Gambia Press Union, brought together participants from the electronic and print media.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, the president of the Gambia Press Union, Bai Emil Touray, commended the participants for attending the training, saying the training was organised to equip participants with the ethics of sports journalism.
Touray urged the participants to always report factual issues and conduct research that would aid them in executing their work effectively and efficiently.
The Executive Director and Secretary General of the Gambia Press Union, Gibairu Janneh, spoke on setting standard in
Janneh expressed optimism that the GPU would continue to organise more courses for sports journalists to improve their capacity.
Rohey Bittaye, a participant, thanked the GPU for organising the training.
She also seized the opportunity to challenge her colleagues to make best use of the knowledge gained from the training.
