GFF 1st Division League update

The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) First Division League has entered week-nine as some teams indicated their positions and stance, while others struggle while nightmare continues.

Saturday matches show no win registered in four encounters in the various venues and all were resulted draws.

Elite United drew 1-1 with Marimoo in an encounter played at the Independence Stadium and Tallinding United also drew goalless with Hawks FC at the Serekunda East Mini-stadium.

The defending champions, Brikama United were also held to a 1-1 draw by their arch rivals, Fortune in an encounter played at the Brikama Box-Ba mini-stadium and Waa Banjul FC, who are yet to concede any defeat in the league so far also drew goalless with Gambia Ports Authority (GPA) in Banjul.

Elite United, formerly Sporting Real FC are not yet settle in the first division as they are making their debut appearance from the Second Division.

Under the guidance of Saikou Manjang alias Mourinho, Elite United has again drew 1-1 with Marimoo in their last fixtures (Saturday) played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

Elite United, who won only a single, drawing 3 and losing 7 games are sitting 13th position with 6 points in the 14-team table standing, two points behind the Manjai-based team Marimoo who sits 12th position with 8 points after nine matches.

Tallinding United, who also drew their last match against Hawks FC are sitting 11th position in the league with 8 points, while Hawks FC occupied 6th position after collecting 11 points.

The defending champions, Brikama United whose performances this season is unstable compared to last season are sitting 9th position with 10 points, levelling with their arch rivals, Fortune FC who occupied 8th position.

Waa Banjul FC, who are yet to lose any match so far, are sitting third in the league standing with 15 points, while the Ferry Boys, GPA, occupied 7th position with 11 points.

At the time of going to press on Sunday, B.K Milan playing against Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) at the Independence Stadium, while Real de Banjul were battling it out with Wallidan in the Banjul KG5 Mini-stadium.
