Gamcel, the nation’s GSM operator, Tuesday presented valuable prizes to lucky winners of the World Cup “predict and win” at a ceremony held at its office on Kairaba Avenue.

Among the prizes awarded to the 41 lucky winners were Samsung S5s, Samsung 43 inch TV, HP laptop, 3G Business, mobile phones, HD Decoders, Polo shirts, jerseys and credit.

Speaking at the presentation, Manyima Cham, Gamcel’s Marketing and Communication Manager, said that was the fourth mega promotion since the commencement of the World Cup on 12 June 2014.

She added that they wanted their customers to enjoy the prizes with their families, friends and relatives, noting that they sat together as a team and decided that everyone that participated in the promotion deserved a valuable prize.

Ms Cham stated that they recently launched the Hajj promotion and would as well this year send 10 customers to Mecca who will be given air tickets, pocket monies and other needs for the trip.

Madam Cham also said they have the fastest internet in the country, while thanking Gamcel’s customers and calling on those without Gamcel line to get one as “Gamcel is full of benefits”.

Lamin Fofana, product development and research manager of Gamcel, said they always look at the needs of their customers and what would benefit them.

They are not just into business but to contribute to national development, he pointed out, describing the prizes given as important materials in their households.

They know the needs of Gambian people and would continue to provide good things for their customers, he remarked.

He also said they intended to also engage Muslims during the month of Ramadan in question-and-answer sessions through text messages.

In conclusion, Fofana told Gamcel customers: “You are at the right place and we urge you to encourage your friends to join the company as it belongs to the nation.”

Serign Ceesay, who chaired the occasion, recalled that the promotion began on 12 June 2014 when Brazil took on Croatia in the opening game of the 2014 FIFA World Cup through to the final played between Germany and Argentina on 13 July 2014.

“Samsung has the best brands, and as the best GSM Company in the country with the best customers, we bring you Samsung products,” he told winners.

They gave a chance to their customers to win valuable prizes, he said, noting that they would continue to work to give customers more prizes.

Lamin Saidykhan, PRO of Milan FC, a team that has been partnering with Gamcel since 2009, described Gamcel as the best GSM Company for Gambians and people residing in The Gambia.

Gamcel has been supporting them in football development in the country, he added, while he called on every Gambian to support Gamcel.

Various winners expressed appreciation and thanks to Gamcel, saying the products would benefit them and their families.
