A man
called Lamin Camara, accused of assault, was recently cautioned and discharged
by Magistrate Fatou Darboe of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, after being found
guilty of assault causing actual bodily harm.
He was however ordered to pay a compensation of D800, to the complainant, in default to serve three weeks in prison.
In his plea of mitigation, the convict told the court he is a student and begged the court for mercy.
The charge sheet read that on 11 June 2014, between the hours of 17:00 and 18:00, at New Jeshwang, in the Kanifing Municipality, he assaulted one Eliman Jallow with a stone, thereby causing him actual bodily harm.
