The Gambia senior national team, the Scorpions, will entertain the Taifa Stars of Tanzania in their second group game in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers on Sunday 10 June 2012 in Dar es Salam.

Sunday’s clash will be the first meeting of the two countries in the global biggest football showpiece qualifiers.

The Scorpions have bagged a single point in one outing following their 1-1 draw against the North African powerhouse Morocco in their opening 2014 World Cup qualifiers in group C at the Independence Stadium last week.

The Scorpions will be searching for their victory against Tanzania on Sunday to keep their hopes of qualifying for their first-ever World Cup, to be hosted in Brazil in two years’ time, but a defeat will really dash their hopes of qualifying for the global biggest football showdown competition.

The Taifa Stars are currently rooted at the bottom of group C with zero point in one game and will be expecting to bounce back against the Scorpions on Sunday to stand a better chance of making it to their first-ever World Cup.

They lost 2-0 in the hands of the Elephants of Ivory Coast in their first group C opener in Abidjan last weekend.

Elsewhere, the Atlas Lions of Morocco will rub shoulders with the Elephants of Ivory Coast in the other group C game on Saturday 9 June 2012, in Rabat.

Ivory Coast are currently leading group C with 3 points in one game, Morocco and The Gambia shared 2nd position with single point each in one outing, while Tanzania are struggling at the bottom of the group with zero point in one game.
