The Gambia Kung-fu Association (GKFA) with invitation from the Federation Senegalese De Kung Fu Wu shu, in Dakar, Senegal, will attend a regional kung fu competition set to kick off on Friday 8 June 2012 at the Maries Njie Stadium.

Countries such as Guinea Bissau, Guinea Conakry, Mali, Gabon, The Gambia and Senegal (organizers of the event) will participate in the competition expected to wrap up on 10 June.

The competition, according to the public relations officer of the association, Ebou Sanyang (alias Jet Li), will be based on “Tao” only (talent demonstration).

The GKFA were expected to leave with 8 masters and 30 competitors including female and children from different kung-fu clubs in The Gambia to compete in their various categories.

The Gambia kung-fu team is to be led by Nazir Bajan, technical director of the GKFA, and Tijan Colley, secretary general of the association.

Mr Sanyang said this is the second time the Gambia kung-fu team will be attending such a competition in Dakar.

“Our competitors are very confident and I believe they will perform well because they have been training very hard,” he said.
