The Gambia is still clinging on in the second hundred of the world’s best countries, according to the latest world rankings from football’s world governing body, Fifa for April.
The Scorpions who lost 1-0 to lowly rated Equatorial Guinea last month made a slight shake on the list by moving 4 places up to 103 in the globe and 24 in Africa. In March the Gambia made no significant move after having shifted by just a single place up.
The Scorpions recorded seven more points and stood on 107th position in the world. They maintained their 27th position in Africa in February rankings.
Across the continent, neighbours Senegal and Madagascar are the big movers as they both leap 18 places.
Ghana remain the top-ranked African side and move up one place on the global list to 15th.
The Teranga Lions were helped by their 1-0 win over Cameroon in the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers last month - the move takes them to 9th on the continent and 51st globally.
World Cup winners Spain remain at number one on the global list.
