Gambia volleyball referee Kawsu Sillah has joined the New York City Board of Volleyball Officials for the upcoming season.
Sillah, who has been an active member of the Gambia Volleyball Association and later moved to the United States, got promoted following his completion and passing of the requirements needed to become a certified volleyball official.
He will be part of the 2012 roster and upcoming 2012/13 season in officiating volleyball matches.
The New York City Board of Officials through its chairman Lynne Withers, have extended words of congratulatory message to Kawsu and wished him well in the upcoming season.
“Congratulations and welcome to the NY City Board of Volleyball Officials. Your rating on our NY City Board is Intramural. Your names will be added to our 2012 roster. You will also be receiving all emails to keep you informed of how to continue to be a member in good standing and always improve on your officiating skills,” the chairman of the NY City Board of Volleyball stated in a letter addressed to Kawsu as one of their latest officials.
The president of the Gambia Volleyball Association, Musa Cassa Taal, reacting to the development, stated that Kawsu, who was an executive member of the association, has been an outstanding volleyball referee before he moved to the US.
“He was part of the referees I trained under my tenure and he is the second international referee for The Gambia, the first being Bai Dodou Jallow, who are both very exceptional and promising,” he said.
