Mr. Bubacarr Jallow, a one time public relations officer (PRO) of The Gambia Immigration Department GID now based in the United States of America, yesterday donated state of the art computers, digital cameras and flash drives worth D50, 000 to his former employee.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at the GID office in Banjul, the honorable Secretary of State for the Interior, Ousman Sonko, described Mr. Jallow as a patriotic citizen of the country noting that the donated items will greatly assist the immigration department in their day to day operations. He added that the stability of any country can be highly measured by its immigration's effectiveness.
He stated that the state of the art computer donated will help store the database of the institution.
Honorable Sonko called on the beneficiary to take good care of the donated items and use it for the purposes it is meant for.
SoS Sonko called on other officers to emulate the good gesture of Mr. Jallow and his family.
For his part, Bubacarr Jallow, the donor, said the role of the immigration is fundamental in any nation adding he will be always willing to support his former department.
He said that the government cannot do it alone. "since I left the country in 2004 I have always been thinking on how to help the this department".
Other speakers at the ceremony included the director general of the immigration department Sako Drammeh.
