News monitored over the Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS) last Friday has it that President Yahya Jammeh has appointed Dr Mariama Sarr-Ceesay, an education consultant, as the new minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology.

The portfolio was under the Office of the President since the reassignment of Dr Momodou Tangara, then minister of Higher Education as minister of Foreign Affairs, International Relations and Gambians Abroad in June 2010.

In a separate but related development, President Jammeh Friday rescinded the appointment of Ebrima JT Kujabi as ambassador at large.

JT Kujabi, who was appointed in April 2010, was at one time Director of Information and Cultural Affairs and also Deputy Ambassador, and at one time Charge d’affaires at the Gambian Embassy in Washington DC, USA.

Prior to that, he was the Director of Press and Public Relations at the Office of the President in Banjul. Mr Kujabi earlier served as the Communication and Public Relations Officer at the Gambia Ports Authority.
