Teresa and Magaret are the double winners of the senior category of the just concluded Africell sponsored Ester Estravaganza Tennis Competition, held at the Fajara Club Tennis Lawn over the weekend.
Both Teresa and Magaret secured each 9 points after defeating their opponents to be crowned champions of the senior category.
Jackie and Irfan were named the runners-up of the senior category after they both finished with 8 points behind Teresa and Magaret.
In the under 15 category, Samsu Sallah emerged the winner after registering a total of 4 points, while Rahul Wadhwani took second position after finishing with a point.
In the under 12 category, Ismalia Gomez was named the winner after he recorded a total of 16 points, while Hassan came out second position with 14 points.
In the under 10 category, Adit was crowned the champion after finishing with 11 points, while Jaya Dinani, alias J. J. emerged the runners-up with 4 points.
Nader Hosn was named the most entertaining player of the competition.
All the winners were awarded with medals at the end of the competition.
Speaking to Andy Wilford, the Tennis coach for Gambian children at the Fajara Club Tennis Lawn, he described the competition as fantastic, adding that it was really great to have such a big sponsorship from Africell.
Andy Wilford, a British national who is residing in The Gambia for the past three years further described the move as a massive step in the right direction.
Andy, who also played as a Professional Tennis player for three years also expressed his readiness to support Gambian Tennis coaches and children who are ready to play tennis.
He also said that he has seen a massive improvement on the children and urged the need for more Tennis Courts.
He finally urged the children to come and play tennis.
