Cherno Omar Bobb, senior sports reporter at The Point newspaper and certified golfer, was the winner of the 2010 Best Sports Writer of the Year award of the Sports Journalists Association of The Gambia (SJAG).
Born in Ndofan in Lower Niumi, North Bank Region, the young Bobb, who joined The Point newspaper in 2009, has been an important member of The Point family, especially the Sports Desk, covering series of important sports events.
His performance with The Point in terms of sports coverage earned him the SJAG 2010 Sports Writer of the Year award on 2July 2010.
Bobb’s achievement in 2010 included promotion to the role of a senior sports reporter. He was also certified as a golfer by the Gambia Golf Academy in February following his participation in The President Jammeh-sponsored Baby Mariam Jammeh Golf competition.
