Barcelona FC have sailed to the semifinal in the ongoing Badinya Sports Committee inter-mediate football tournament after beating in-form Under Lion 1-0 in the first quarterfinal game played at the Gunjur Upper Basic School football field on Saturday.
The tightly-contested game showed both sides put up spectacular performances and launched occasional goal-scoring attempts in front of each other’s goal mouth but the first period failed to produce a goal.
As actions resumed in the second period, Barcelona regrouped themselves and mounted heavy pressure on Under Lion’s defence line and as a result opened the score through Sulayman Darboe in the 49th minute of the game from a superb strike to give his side the lead that eventually proved to be the winner for Barca.
Under Lion FC responded back for an equalizer but could not level the score, thus the game ended 1-0 in favour of Barca.
Black Panthers FC have also advanced to the semifinal following their 1-0 win over Arsenal FC in the second quarterfinal played on Sunday courtesy of a Modou Njie strike.
