FC were on Saturday crowned champions of the 24-team junior nawetaan tournament organised by Serrekunda East Sports Development Organisation (SESDO) after beating Medina FC 1-0 at the Serrekunda East mini-Stadium.
Saihou Bah, first vice-president of the organisation, took the kickoff of the final. The tournament was dedicated to two goalkeepers, Ebou Ceesay and Dawda Ndoye, who were goalkeepers in the zone but have passed away.
Ebou Ceesay, who passed away in 1998, was a goalkeeper for Ball Football Club while Dawda Ndoye, commonly called DK, passed away in 1992. He was a goalkeeper for F.S. Motel.
Family members of both deceased attended the final and the proceeds gained during the tournament were shared between the two families with each family receiving D2,000.
Ismaila Ceesay scored the only goal of the encounter that separated the two sides in the 57th minute of the game.
Medina FC were reduced to ten men when Omar Fofana was given the marching-off order for a second bookable offence in the 67th minute.
The winners, Bantaba FC, received a cash prize of D3,000 while Medina FC received a consolation prize of D2,000 as runners-up.
