In his second cabinet reshuffle in less than a week, President Yahya Jammeh has relieved Justice Amie Joof, Attorney General and minister of Justice, of his cabinet appointment, the presidency announced on Tuesday.
A news release from the presidency announced late yesterday that President Jammeh has in the same vein appointed Justice Mama Fatima Singhateh as the new Attorney General and minister of Justice.
Amie Joof, a former High Court judge, joined Jammeh’s cabinet in May this year.
Mama Fatima Singhateh, also a high court judge, served as chairman of the Tax Commission established last year to look into tax evasion and other corrupt practices of accountants, legal practitioners, companies, and private persons, medical practitioners and institutions required to pay tax to the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA).
Last week, President Jammeh also removed Momodou Aki Bayo from his cabinet appointment as minister of Lands and Regional Governments.
