Judiciary sets up complaints committee against judges, others

The office of the Chief Justice has announced the setting up of a complaints committee to deal with complaints against judges, magistrates, cadis among others, a press release from the judiciary has revealed.

The new committee is mandated to receive complaints against judges, magistrates, cadis, registrars and judicial staff and make recommendations to the Chief Justice.

The committee comprises Justice Janneh, Justice of the Supreme Court as chairman; Justice Salla Wadda, Justice of the Court of Appeal as member; Justice Nkea, Judge of the High Court as member; Solicitor General and Legal Secretary as member; Justice Omar Secka, Chairman of the Cadi Appeals Panel as member; Mr Abdou Conteh, Principal Registrar, Court of Appeal as member/secretary; and a representative from the Gambia Bar Association as observer.

The judiciary stated that all grievances and complaints regarding the performance of duty against any judge, magistrate, cadi, registrar, or any other court official may now be lodged with the said committee.

Complaints are to be addressed to the Chairman, Complaints Committee, Office of the Chief Justice.
