The trial of a man charged with threatening violence continued recently at the Kanifing Magistrates' Court before Magistrate Tabally.

Testifying, the second prosecution witness, Alieu Camara, a police officer, told the court that he recognised the accused, Mustapha Njie, and could recall what happened on 6 November 2010.

"On that day at around 9am, I received a telephone call from one Mariama, reporting to me that the accused, Mustapha Njie, had threatened to kill her," he explained.

He said he went to the scene and saw a crowed, while the accused was holding a broken bottle and people were afraid to go near the accused.

Officer Camara further adduced that he heard the accused saying: "I will kill the girl if she comes out."

He adduced he was able to arrest the accused and took him to Serekunda Police Station, where he made a statement to that effect.

Camara said he later confirmed that the accused, Mustapha Njie, had earlier done the same act.

The case was adjourned until 13January 2011.
