A
man called Lamin Touray was yesterday arraigned before Magistrate Blessed of
the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, charged with conspiracy, possession of
prohibited drug for the purpose of trafficking and failure to stop when
required to do so.
He
denied the charges.
The
charge sheet in count one stated that on 4 August 2016, at Manjai Kunda and
diverse places within the jurisdiction of the court, the accused, Lamin Touray,
conspired with one Ebrima commonly known as Ratty, who is at large, to deal
with cannabis, a prohibited drug.
Count
two read that on the same date, month and year along Manjai Kunda Kotu Highway
within the jurisdiction of the court, he had in his possession 56kg and 38g of
cannabis, a prohibited drug.
Count
three stated that on the same date, month and place at a police checkpoint, he
failed to stop when required to do so by a member of the police in uniform.
He
was subsequently remanded in custody, pending his bail application at the high
court, which has the jurisdiction to grant him bail.
The
case was adjourned until 6 September 2016.
