Barely few days to the start of one of the country’s biggest sports events, the NISA July 22nd Sports Championship, officials of the National Inter-Departmental Sports Association have received and treated a Senegalese delegation ahead of the event.

Tony Ndoye, president of the Senegalese Sports Workers Federation, and veteran Senegalese sports journalist Abdoulie Diaw were part of a seven-man delegation that arrived in Banjul ahead of the event.

The championship, which will be hosted under the auspices of the National Inter-departmental Sports Association, is targeting fourteen regions from Senegal with teams from The Gambia.

The objective of the mission was to assess NISA’s preparedness in hosting this year’s sub-regional championship scheduled to take place in The Gambia from 22 to 25 July 2012 for which all the fourteen regions in Senegal comprising 750 delegates including 50 journalists will be in attendance.

The participants will take part in the July 22nd Match-past at Arch 22 in Banjul.

The seven-man delegation assessed the state of accommodation, feeding and other logistics for the championship.

The delegation, which left Banjul for Dakar yesterday, conducted site inspection by visiting the Independence Stadium, The FIFA Goal Project in Yundum, Serrekunda East, Serrekunda West, KG5 and Manjai football grounds respectively.

They met with Youth and Sports minister Alieu K. Jammeh, and the minister of Interior.

NISA President Buba Sagnia and KMC Mayor were all in yesterday’s outing.

They also met Officials of GRTS, the exclusive sponsor of The Gambia-Senegal Journalist Football Match, as well as other stakeholders.
