The Gambian coach made the remarks following his side’s 3-0 defeat in the hands of Senegal in their opening game of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
“It is not the best start for the team,” he also admitted.
In reaction to Ebou Adams’s sending off, he said: “I did not see the red card but I think VAR always checks it and they have made the decision.”
Hr added: “We missed Abdoulie Jallow and Ebrima Colley for the game today but we will go back and prepare for the next game against Guinea Conakry.”
Aliou Cisse, head coach of Senegal, described the win as a good start to the competition for his side and therefore congratulated his players.
He said it was difficult to play in the heat but added that they exercised patience.
On why choose Lamine Camara, he said: “Lamine is a good player and he is young too. I have seen your headlines (the Senegalese media) but Lamin has done well.
“You people criticize because Gana Gaye is not available. We have to trust the young players. We need to exercise patience, especially for young players. They can develop step by step. I am proud of my team. We prepared for the game for 15 days.”
Cisse added: “It was a very difficult game. We are brother with The Gambia and I think they can have a good tournament. I watched The Gambian team in the last AFCON and I think this is not the end of the road for them. They have a good team and I think they can do well in the competition.
“I said to my boys this is a football match and not a war. Do not put pressure on yourself.
“We knew were going to play a difficult game but I told my players not to listen too much to the press. You the press want to win on the 11th February (the final) but for us as coaches we are thinking about our next game.”
