Head of coach RSL Zurich FC, Alkali Jammeh, has applauded his team for their performance against Lions of T.Town in their opening match of the 2023/2024 Serrekunda East Sport Development Organisation (SESDO) ‘nawetan’ league derby match played at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadiumon Wednesday.

Coach Jammeh was speaking to journalist shortly after his side 1-all draw against their noisy neighbors Lions of T.Town.

Seedu Jarju opened the scores for RSL Zurich in the 26th minute before Lions of T.Town restored parity in 40th minute of the match.

“It is a good game and it is the beginning of nawetan and we didn’t know our opponents,’’ Coach Jammeh said.

“I think we deserve a victory but unfornately we drew the match but this is football.”

‘‘We made a mistake. They capitalized on our mistake and levelled matters, “Jammeh said.

He added that his player was injured and the flank who supposed to cover him failed to cover on time.

‘‘We dominated the whole game; you can see the second half. They did not have a shot on goal,’’ Coach Jammeh said.

Jammeh stated that Lions of T. Town were lucky to get a draw. He added that they would go back to the drawing board and look what they did wrong critically.

‘‘We will go back and rectify our errors ourselves and make sure next game will be a win for us.

‘‘We know our fault already. We will correct it and Insha’Allah the second game, you will see a difference,” Coach Jammeh assured.

Coach Jammeh added that their mission this season is to win the trophy.

Head coach of Lions of T.Town, Samsideen Sanneh, said it was a good game, adding some of his players are for the first time playing the nawetan football in the SESDO.

Coach Sanneh further stated that the match went well as planned because both teams are neighbours.
