
He revealed that inclusive participation in sports is necessary for sports development, more especially at the national level.
Jawo further revealed that sports is a universal language, adding that it unites people, transcends social and cultural barriers and creates opportunities for physical, mental and social development.
He stated that The Gambia's sports policy envisions a future where every Gambian, regardless of age, gender, or background, can actively participate in sports activities.
Jawo noted that the coaching courses are one of the many steps toward strengthening the structures that support grassroots sports development in the country.
''To develop handball and other sporting disciplines in The Gambia, we must ensure inclusive participation,'' Jawo explained.
Jawo pointed out that they would create space for young boys and girls in schools, nurture talent at community level and building a strong technical capacity for the coaches.
"Involvement at all levels ensures that sports is not reserved for the elite or the fortunate but becomes an avenue for everyone to express themselves to grow and achieve their potential,'' Jawo said.
