Officials of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and The Gambia Football Federation Events Management Committee will today, Thursday, assess the facilities at the Abdoulaye Wadda  and Lat Dior Stadiums in Senegal, ahead of the Scorpions 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at home to South Sudan.

The officials are expected to access facilities of both grounds to play their home matches of the continent’s bi-annual biggest football fiesta qualifiers after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) banned the Independence Stadium from hosting international matches.

The officials will hold a meeting with the Senegalese Football Federation and the management of the two stadiums to look at ways of ensuring Gambians travel to Senegal to watch the Scorpions home qualifier matches.

The Gambia snatched qualification to the group phase of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers following their 3-2 aggregate victory over Chad in the preliminary qualifiers played in March 2022.

The continent’s bi-annual biggest football showpiece qualifiers is set to begin in June 2022.

The Scorpions will contend to win their qualifier matches to secure qualification to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
