The visits took the delegation to ongoing work sites in Gunjur, Brikama, Busumbala and Old Yundum.
The team, that also include the first-vice president for Admin & Finance, who also doubles as the GFF/FIFA Projects Manager, Bakary K. Jammeh; the General Secretary Lamin M. Jassey and the Communications Manager, Bakary B. Baldeh, held brief discussions with the contractors, consultants and the project beneficiaries.
The first point of call was in Gunjur where work on the site was progressing with half way to complete the perimeter fencing.
Head of Fenta Consulting Architects, Baboucarr Samega Janneh said the work there would be completed by the end of next week.
“We are only been delayed by the Koriteh because many of the laborers all went for the pray but the erecting of the perimeter area would be completed by next week,” he disclosed.
Jammeh for his part urged both the consultant and contractor to speed up work at the site in order to align with the aspirations of the Federation.
The Gunjur Mini Stadium would be fitted with a recent state of the earth playing grass pitch, perimeter fence, pavilions, dressing rooms and toilets.
At the Box Bar Mini Stadium in Brikama, an artificial turf would be laid; the dressing rooms would also be refurbished as well as newly constructed pavilions and toilets.
Similar visits were held at Busumbala where a grass field is been constructed and a pavilion.
At the Football Hotel hosted by the National Technical Training Center in Old Yundum, work is already progressing on a swimming pool.
The pool is to ensure the Football Hotel completes the process of attaining a three-star status.
The NTTC will serve as the home of Gambian football with the availability of unique facilities such as the aforesaid Football Hotel, a swimming pool, a center of excellence, home for Gambia national junior teams, clinic, gymnasium, grass pitch, mini stadium, and an auditorium hall.
At the completion of the tour, Bakary Jammeh said the purpose of the visit was to further appraise the Federation of the development and to also hold discussions with the contractors and the respective consultants on the process”.
He noted that there was a delay start to the work due to a number of reasons but he is hopeful that by next week, the perimeter fence erection would be a thing of the past.
Jammeh expressed delight in the work done in all the sites.
“But I’m [particularly] very much happy with the work at the Brikama Stadium because the dressing room is been expanded and modernized to meet the new requirements,” he affirmed.
“As Project Manager, I’m very satisfied and at least we can go back to FIFA with a status report so that we can assess more funding for the works to progress.”
