WAFU Zone A U-17 tourney to commence in January 29

The 2021 West Africa Football Union (WAFU) zone A U-17 football tournament is set to start on 29 January 2021 in Sierra Leone.
The 14-man team selected by Coach Omar Bargie comprises Setters, Middle Blockers, Outside Hitters, Opposite and Libero players respectively.
The Setters are Ba Alpha Ceesay and Gibril Fatty. Middle Blockers are Sheikh Colley, Baboucarr Joof and Demba Joof. Outside Hitters are Amadou Jarju, Momodou Ngum, Ebrima Jatta, Sanusi Jawara and Mario Dampha. Opposites are Jahara Koita and Laity Nyabally. Liberos are Malick Saine and Omar Ceesay respectively.
Sheikh Omar Bargie said preparations are on high gear, noting that they had a little stop on their training due to financial issues which also coincided with the National Beach Volleyball championship.
“We are in high gear and intense training ahead of the championship. We train three times a week (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and now we want to increase the number of days for training to five times a week,” said Coach Bargie.
According to him, they hold their trainings in the morning at the Independence Stadium basketball court.
The male national team will be under the guidance of the head coach Sheikh Omar Bargie and his assistant Sanu Secka.
Meanwhile, in a similar development, the national women volleyball team of The Gambia is also intensifying training ahead of the Zone II volleyball championship in Banjul.
The team under the guidance of Italian coach Roberto Farinelli is also holding its training sessions at the Independence Stadium basketball court in Bakau.
The international tournament which will be hosted in the Gambia starts from 12-17 January 2022.
