The tournament will also create a platform for young African athletes to showcase their skills and talents in beach volleyball.

It is expected to capture new breeds of young stars across the continent and ignite a new spirit of winning mentality in young beach volleyball athletes.

Development and Growth

The Banjul tournament is aimed at promoting the development of youth volleyball in Africa, aligning with the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) strategic objective to ensure strong African representation at major international competitions, primarily the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games.

The tournament will bring together top U-18 teams across Africa, offering participants valuable experience in high-level competition and exposure to international standards in beach volleyball.

Pathway to Olympic Games

The championship will serve as a stepping stone for young athletes to cruise to international competitions such as  FIVB U-18 Beach Volleyball World Championship, more especially 2026 Dakar Youth Olympic Games.

The tournament is part of the African Volleyball Confederation's key strategic pillars to ensure strong African representation at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games Beach Volleyball championship with funding from Olympic Solidarity.

The championship demonstrates CAVB's commitment to develop youth volleyball in Africa, promotes Olympic values and contributes to the growth of beach volleyball in Africa, supporting the continent's bid for a strong presence at the Youth Olympic Games.

Reacting to this development,  president of CAVB Bouchra Hajij echoed her happiness, support and commitment to youth development in Africa.

The joint initiatives of CAVB, FIVB and Olympic Solidarity are aimed at preparing and empowering young athletes in Africa.

The tournament is expected to be one of the most important beach volleyball championships in the CAVB 2025 calendar.

 Hajij stated that they are working with the Gambia Volleyball Federation for the successful hosting of the championship in Banjul.

The tournament is expected to run from 2nd September to 7th September 2025 at the iconic Kasumai beach.
