Bombada seal debut triumph in 1st Division

Bombada FC on Friday sealed their debut victory in the 2023-2024 Baluwo sponsored Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Division One League following their slender 2-1 win over Greater Tomorrow Football Academy in their week-three fixture played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium.

The Bombada boys came into the match without a point after losing to Falcons FC and Fortune FC in their previous league outings.

Bombada knew that a defeat against Greater Tomorrow Football Academy would dash their dreams of staying in the country’s Elite League for another season.

The Bombada boys came all out for the maximum points and controlled Greater Tomorrow in the midfield, launching several glorious goal scoring attempts.

Ousman K. Sanno opened the scores for Bombada in the 20th minute before Lamin Tamba extended their lead in the 39th minute to dash Greater Tomorrow Football Academy’s hopes of coming back to their feet.

Greater Tomorrow Football Academy reacted quickly for an equaliser but were unable to open Bombada’s defence line thus the first half ended 2-0 in favour of Bombada.

Upon resumption of the match, Greater Tomorrow Football Academy mobilised themselves and attacked Bombada, crafting goal scoring chances.

Paul Colley pulled back one goal for Greater Tomorrow Football Academy in the 66th minute of the match, which eventually proved to be a consolation for the Brikama based-academy.

Bombada and Greater Tomorrow Football Academy grabbed 3 points each after three league matches.

Real de Banjul defeated Steve Biko 1-0 at the Live Your Dreams Sports Complex in Basori to maintain their hundred percent record in the country’s Elite League campaign.

The win earns the city boys top-spot on the country’s Premier League table standing with 9 points.
