The marathon run was organised by Big Dreams Gambia in partnership with Big Dreams Inc in honour of ‘back-way’ victims.
Kaddy Mambureh finished second position, while Soffiatou Sanneh took third position.
Amadou received a cash prize of D5, 000 as winner, while Kaddy and Soffiatou received D3, 000 and D1, 500 as second and third-place holders.
Ousainou Janneh won the 5 kilometres run.
He received D3, 000.
Bakary Jagne secured second position, while Ebrima Saine took third position.
Jagne and Saine received D1, 500 and D1, 000 respectively.
All participants received a free T-Shirt.
The charity run held at the Bakau Community Park.
The charity run was organised to mourn love ones who tragically lost their lives trying to reach Europe through the ‘back-way’ in pursuit of a better life.
Speaking to reporters shortly after the charity run, Amdou Sowe expressed delight in winning the charity run and his teammates are proud in the process.
According to him, they have been training together for some time, adding that he was confident of winning the charity run.
Kaddy Mambureh, who finished second position in the 10 kilometres category, said the reason behind her success is training.
She stated that her dream is to represent The Gambia in more international marathon competitions.
She thanked her family and Big Dreams for organising the charity run to ‘back-way’ victims.
Ousainou Janneh, winner for the 5 kilometres run said he had no doubt that he would win.
He thanked his parents, coach, teammates and organisers of the charity run.
Secretary General of The Gambia Athletics Association (GAA), Arthur Jackson, thanked Big Dreams for the initiative meant to raise critical funds for families who lost their loved one on the ‘back-way’.
He congratulated everyone who participated in the run.
