The Gambia Football Federation (GFF ) presidential candidate, Kemo Ceesay, alias Coach is a well-respected football administrator, financial expert and community development advocator.

Ceesay has contributed to the development of Gambian football for more than two decades. 

He contributed to youth empowerment and public sector leadership.

Ceesay was born on 9 June 1974 in Sandou Missera in the Upper River Region of The Gambia.

He has established himself as a disciplined and visionary leader committed to national development through sport, governance and social engagement.

Academically and professionally accomplished, Ceesay holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Public Administration and a Certified FIFA Executive qualification, complemented by extensive expertise in finance, governance and strategic leadership. over the years.

Ceesay has played a significant role in shaping football administration in The Gambia through his strong commitment to institutional accountability, financial discipline and grassroots development.

His most notable role has been serving as Finance Director of The Gambia Football Federation from 2016 to 2025, where he contributed significantly to strengthening financial management systems and governance structures within Gambian football. Prior to this, he served as Head of Finance at the former Gambia Football Association (GFA). Beyond federation leadership.

Ceesay held senior executive positions at prominent football clubs, including Steve Biko FC, Gambia Rush Soccer Club, and currently as Co-owner and CEO of Gambian Dutch Lions FC. Through these roles, Ceesay has consistently championed youth football development, talent identification and professional club management.

In addition to his achievements in football administration, Ceesay has been deeply involved in civil society, youth leadership, and community development initiatives.

Ceesay has worked extensively with youth organizations and advocacy groups focused on social welfare, youth empowerment, child protection and community advancement.

His service as Youth Coordinator for GAMCOTRAP reflected his commitment to campaigns against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and the promotion of child protection initiatives.

Ceesay served as Chairperson of the National Youth Network on Population and Development under UNFPA, where he led youth-centered advocacy and development programs across the country.

At the grassroots community level, Ceesay has contributed to several youth and sports development initiatives, including serving as Treasurer of the Bakau Youth and Sports Development Association and Auditor of the Kanifing Municipal Council Youth Committee.

Ceesay is the Founder of the Bakau Youth Association of Children’s Welfare (BYCAW), an organisation established to support youth welfare and community-based social development programs. Widely admired for his integrity, leadership and dedication to youth empowerment, Ceesay continues to play a pivotal role in advancing football governance and community development inThe Gambia.

His unique blend of administrative expertise, financial management and social advocacy has made him one of the country’s most influential figures in sports and youth development.
