As 2023 wrapped up about a week ago, the Vice President of the Republic of The Gambia, Muhammed B.S. Jallow and his entourage paid a courtesy call on the office of the National Youth Parliament (NYP).

The visit was part of efforts by the Office of the Vice President to familiarise itself with the programmes and activities of NYP as well as discuss key youth-centric issues of concern, such as youth unemployment and irregular migration.

In their discussion, Omar Cham, speaker of the National Youth Parliament harped on the partnership. He underscored the need for tackling challenges Gambian youths face, such as unemployment. He also stressed on resource mobilisation, which he hinted as another reason that necessitates partnership with government.

The Vice President said that government is unswervingly committed in striving to end these menaces Gambian young people face. Irregular migration being one of the issues dominating the national spotlight currently, VP Jallow highlighted that stakeholders are currently being engaged to proffer solutions.
