The 3-days meeting hosted by The Gambia through Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources (MECCNAR) brought together delegates from Senegal, Guinea Bissau, Guinea Conakry and The Gambia.
Ebrima Jawara, premanent secretary at the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources (MECCNAR) in his remarks on behalf of his minister described the gathering as a testament to the collaborative spirit and shared commitment, towards supporting the sustainable development agendas of the 4 Governments.
PS Jawara also described the meeting as crucial, saying it will have a direct bearing on the tempo and outcome of the meeting of their Ministers, as they prepare and finalise the documents for the long-awaited 11th Ordinary Session, of the OMVG Conference of Heads of State and Government.
Mr Jawara urged delegates to draw inspiration from the Sub-Region's resilience and unity, aiming to foster greater regional integration, economic development, and social well-being, for the betterment of their peoples.
Daouda Samba Sow, OMVG Secretary General said that the completion of the construction work on lines and substations of the OMVG interconnection loop will very soon allow the synchronisation of the four national electricity networks and will facilitate the exchanges of electrical energy which are already in progress between Senegal and The Gambia.
He expressed his High Commission’s traditional commitment to always work towards facilitating the cooperation of Member States on the various OMVG projects, in particular the energy program with its second generation works, the examination of the Master Development Plan Integrated (PDDI) and all those who contribute to the proper functioning of the Organisation.
He thanked all their funders and urged them to increase their technical and financial support to OMVG for the diligent implementation of the projects in their entirety.
