The Gambia hosted the 3-day meeting through the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources (MECCNAR), which brought together delegates from Senegal, Guinea Bissau, Guinea Conakry and The Gambia.
Hon. Rohey John Manjang, minister of Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources (MECCNAR) in her closing remarks expressed gratitude to the Presidents of The Gambia, Guinea, Guinea Bissau and Senegal for their continuous support to the OMVG High Commission.
She also thanked them for supporting the commission's projects aimed at efficiently utilising the natural resources of the river basin under its jurisdiction.
She stated that the ministers meeting would result in better preparation of issues for the Conference of Heads of States and Governments, enabling OMVG to achieve its development objectives and implement its projects but also encourage support from technical and financial partners, including OMVG member states.
Hon. Malam Sambu, minister of Natural Resources for Guinea Bissau and the current chairman of OMVG Council of Ministers expressed gratitude to members for their preparatory work.
He added that despite several postponements, the council meeting was successfully held. He went on to acknowledge the results achieved in the implementation of the energy project from 2016 to date.
