Team Paloma25 Foundation recently commemorated its second edition of their annual multi-cultural festival, an event aimed at promoting culture and supporting Children’s education.

The event held at St Charles Hall in Fajikunda was held under the theme - ‘Education: The road map to success, and was characterised with cultural display by the school children.

Further, this annual event was designed to raise awareness as well as to mobilise support, bearing in mind that education is not a privilege, but it a right.

Addressing the gathering, Paul Bajohn, president of the Foundation reminded that this celebration transcends just annual traditions, but a critical moment to celebrate the future of the country.

He spoke highly of the theme of this year’s event, which he said, is a gentle reminder that success requires the firm foundation of knowledge, through vibrant capacity of performances to help to navigate life and build a better future.

"Thus, this cultural show serves as a powerful reminder that culture defines who we are, education determines where we can go. Enjoy the performances and be inspired by the journey from foundation to success," Bajohn said.

He underscored the importance of education, acknowledging that it is widely believed that education is the passport to the future, and it is also the road map that shows us how to get there.

"This cultural festival will give the opportunity to learn” adding that “Education is the road map that transforms potential into performance and talent into true success”.

Pierre Felix Mendy, Secretary General of the Foundation acknowledged that many children are struggling on a daily basis to stay in school, and that’s not because they are not intelligent, or not having dreams, but simply because they lack opportunities.

That, he added, is the reason they’re here to celebrate the multicultural festival.

“This multicultural festival is not just an event, it is a response to the problem we are facing today, a problem we have chosen not to ignore, but to act upon.”

He indicated that their project is, of course, on one clear mission, to reach out of school children and provide them with access to education and learning opportunities.

‘‘We are doing this through community engagement, from doing certain initiatives like this very event, stakeholders and institutions, continuous advocacy for inclusive education, because we believe every child deserves a chance.’’

On the occasion of this year’s event, Mr Mendy called on all to partner and to stand with them in providing learning materials for the kids and to help create opportunities for those who have been left behind.
