With the year drawing to a close, members of the Banjul Cultural Festival Task Force Committee are ramping up preparations to deliver a spectacular and memorable celebration of The Gambia’s second-largest annual cultural event. Scheduled to run from December 24th to the early hours of January 2nd, the festival promises to light up the capital with vibrant performances, parades, and cultural showcases.

The highly anticipated festival attracts thousands of people - Banjulians, Gambians from across the country, and international visitors - who converge on the capital each year to celebrate the nation’s rich cultural heritage and communal spirit.

As part of ongoing preparations, the Task Force Committee last week convened its regular meeting at the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) conference hall in Banjul. The session, chaired by Hassoum Ceesay, Director General of the National Centre for Arts and Culture (NCAC), on behalf of the Honourable Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, served as a platform for various sub-committees to present updates on progress and logistical arrangements.

Mr. Ceesay reaffirmed the committee’s dedication to ensuring a seamless and successful festival. We are doing everything possible to guarantee the smooth hosting of this year’s celebration. All hands are on deck, and all stakeholders are actively engaged in the planning and execution process, he assured.

The meeting brought together representatives from different sub-committees tasked with coordinating various components of the event, including cultural displays, security, entertainment, and logistics all united by a shared goal of making this year’s festival one of the most memorable in recent times.
