The winner of the award received D250,000, the runner-up received D100,000 and the young entrepreneur of the year received D250,000.
The presentation was held at Qcell conference hall.
Isatou Secka-Jah, Executive Director for Q-Group, said the pledge to reward winners was made at the GCCI 2022 awards dinner.
She added that over the years the Q-Group has partnered with GCCI through Qcell to support the chamber in its fundraising activities.
She said further that they were the main sponsor of GCCI’s 2019 awards dinner as well as this year’s.
She noted that the gesture was meant to recognize winners’ hard work and commitment.
Madam Secka-Jah explained that Q-Group Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Q-Group of Companies through which they stream their initiatives and interventions with the aim of contributing to national development.
“Our philosophy is a pride which stands for productivity, responsibility innovative, discipline and efficiency,” she said, adding that they set standards, innovate, and motivate for others to follow.
She added that since their inception in 2016, they had supported initiatives focused on sustainable development in education, health, youth and community development.
“We spend a considerable portion of our budget on education and health because we believe education is the only prerequisite to development and health is wealth,” Mrs Secka-Jah said.
“We support students to attain higher education, entrepreneurship and families in distress as well as project that uplift communities.”
She added: “In order for us to develop as a nation we must pay special attention to women and youth.”
