In promoting the culture of sharing while strengthening its humanitarian drive, Gambian philanthropist Modou Turo Darboe has again extended magnanimity to hundreds of families in the North Bank Region with the latest presentation of 1,070 bags of sugar (10 kg each) to help cushion the burden on vulnerable families especially during this Holy Month of Ramadan.

The vital food support, distributed across several communities in the area, was bankrolled by Gambia philanthropist Modou Turo Darboe, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of the Vision Development Foundation.

The distribution exercise was coordinated by Abdoulie Ceesay, who also serves as President of Humanitarian Action The Gambia. The support targeted residents of Lower Niumi, Upper Niumi and Jokadou districts.

Presenting the items, Abdoulie Ceesay, coordinator of the initiative, explained that the donated sugar was shared among 38 villages across the region, reaching about 280 families, many of whom face economic difficulties.

Ceesay also described the gesture as timely, coming at a time when families are observing the Holy Month of Ramadan.

“These communities received this sugar at the right time during Ramadan, when many families struggle to meet their daily needs,” he said.

Ceesay thus returned gratitude to Gambian philanthropist and VDF chief patron - Darboe and the Vision Development Foundation for their continued humanitarian support to communities across the country.

He praised the foundation’s commitment to assisting vulnerable groups, especially during significant periods such as Ramadan.

He equally acknowledged the efforts of key members of the foundation, including Public Relations Officer Saihou Fofana and staff member Kabiro Darboe, for their dedication and teamwork in ensuring the successful implementation of the initiative.

Special appreciation was also extended to the Gambia Armed Forces, which provided a military truck to transport the sugar from the foundation’s central warehouse in Bakau to communities in the North Bank Region.
