The founder of the clinic, Mr Lamin J. Darboe—former Chairman of the Truth, Reparations and Reconciliation Commission (TRRC)—was present at the occasion. He encouraged the public to make regular visits to healthcare centres for medical check-ups, emphasising that prevention is key to reducing disease. Quoting the well-known adage, he reminded attendees that “a healthy nation is a wealthy nation.” Mr Darboe also expressed his appreciation to the doctors and nurses who volunteered their services during the programme.
The initiative was sponsored by the Niani Dobbo Youth Development Association in collaboration with members of the village Diaspora.
Speaking on behalf of the association, Deputy Public Relations Officer (DPRO) Mr Musa Dahaba thanked the village youths and Diaspora community for their commitment in ensuring the success of the event. He urged fellow youths to emulate their example by contributing to the delivery of quality healthcare services to the people of The Gambia.
