The forum, which was organised by NACOFAG in collaboration with producers and farmers, brought together participants from across the country.
The convergence, officials added, was meant to bring different stakeholders together with the objective of enabling them discuss business terms, collaboration and to possibly enter into contractual agreements between the producers, suppliers and buyers especially on maize production for poultry feed.
Baba Galleh Jallow, the deputy governor of the West Coast Region (WCR) who spoke at the opening of the convergence in Brikama, underscored the importance of the training.
Deputy governor Jallow reaffirmed the government’s continued commitment to the promotion of entrepreneurship particularly among the young people of the country.
He added: “There has been significant improvement in the advancement of poultry farming in the Gambia,” he stated.
However, he was quick to add that one of the challenges affecting poultry production is poultry feed, while suggesting “policy reforms play a crucial role in these efforts.”
The Gambia government, he continued, is prioritising entrepreneurship in the quest to attain food self-sufficiency in the country.
According to him, the government will work with relevant stakeholders in order to establish a sustainable framework to address issues affecting farmers and entrepreneurship.
Mr. Jallow called for collaboration and team work from the different players within the agriculture sector.
