FLAMG is apolitical, non-governmental, charitable organisation, comprising ex-Fifth Legislature Assembly Members of The Gambia who served their nation and wish to continue to contribute positively to the welfare and development of the country.
The launching does not only mark the inception of FLAMG but also serves as an opportunity for the ex NAM members to come together with fellow dignitaries, leaders and community advocates to discuss their vision, objectives, and strategies moving forward.
Sunkary Badjie, secretary general of FLAMG in his opening remarks stated that they formed the association to continue to give back to the people of The Gambia.
He noted that they benefited a lot from tax payers money during their tenure, adding that to whom much is given, much is expected.
Seedy Njie, deputy speaker of the National Assembly in deputising for the Speaker stated that democracy is not a product but a process; the launch of the association is the beginning to build a new democratic polity of accommodation, respect and tolerance among themselves and people.
“I encourage this association to also serve as advocate for the democratic values of peace, development and tolerance,” he urged them.
Musa Amul Nyassi, chairman of FLAMG said that their vision is deeply rooted in democracy, with the aim to amplify the voices of their citizens and address their concerns.
“We are a collective force, committed to contributing to the development and prosperity of the Republic of The Gambia. I express profound gratitude to members of FLAMG, who despite political diversity, came together for the greater good,” he noted.
He added that the association is guided by values such as respect for diversity, transparency and a commitment to community development.
