Amir Sahib Baba F. Trawally of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at has called on Gambians to continue to pray for the peace, security, stability, progress and prosperity of the country.

Amir Trawally made the remarks during the 7th Annual Peace Symposium of Ahmadiyya Muslim Students Association (AMSA) Nusrat Chapter, held at the Nusrat Senior Secondary School ground recently.

He admitted that it is always encouraging to see young people coming together and talking or engaging in topics as important as peace and other relevant issues affecting us today. “Events like this should be organised by various youth groups whereby the importance of peace and how it can be achieved is highlighted and discussed,” he added.

He stated that: “in any society, the act of decency is very important because when people have decency in the way they dress, talk to each other, address each other and treat each other; they tend to have tolerance for each other.”

According to him, in a society where people tolerate each other despite their differences in belief, opinion, ethnicity, tribe, faith and religion, they in turn tend to respect each other and live harmoniously.

Amir Trawally further  stated that when these attributes or qualities are present in a society and instilled as well as acted upon wholeheartedly, such societies will always enjoy lasting peace.

He called on the students to be peaceful and be good ambassadors of peace. He also advised them to tolerate each other, be kind to each other, accommodate each other, respect each other and be decent in their dealings.

Oustaz Tahir Mahmood Ahmad, head of Ahmadiyya Mission in The Gambia urged the students to practice what they learned during the symposium. He also thanked the association for the initiative.

Saikou Jammeh, the Majilis Khudamul described the world as a global village, noting that the promotion of peace can only be effective when the established national and international bodies serve the interest of everyone without stereotyping, favouring the rich, or leaving the poor at the mercy of the rich.

Nurudeen O. Bah, president of AMSA encouraged his fellow students to continue promoting peace for their own well-being and the betterment of the country.
