Malick Drammeh has emerged victorious as the champion of Alhaji Bajeija Jawara's Qur'anic competition, triumphing over Arabic students from across the nation. The total prize for this year's competition was set at one million dalasis.

Initiated and sponsored by the Chief Executive Officer of GACH Global, the yearly Quranic competition has been hailed by religious leaders as a gigantic initiative aimed at promoting Islam in the country. The competition that begins in Kerewan, in the North Bank Region, showcases the stiff competition from talented Arabic students across the country.

Several religious leaders who addressed the gathering praised Abubacarr Jawara for his unwavering commitment to the protection and promotion of Islam in the country. They highlighted his numerous initiatives designed to support Islamic causes and more.

The Quranic competition was categorised into two segments, with the full Qur’an segment highlighting exceptional talents. Malick Drammeh triumphed as the winner, followed by Omar Jallow in second and Bakary Njie in third. The first-place winner took home a cash prize of 75,000 dalasis, while the second and third-place winners received 50,000 and 30,000 dalasis, respectively.

In the second category, which focuses on memorising half of the Qur’an, Omar Faye triumphed, earning a prize of 40,000 dalasis, Abdullah Jallow secured the second place with a reward of 30,000 dalasis, while Muhammad claimed the third prize, taking home 20,000 dalasis.

In addition to the prizes for the first and second categories, every participant who advanced to the finals was awarded a takeaway of two thousand dalasis.

The Quranic competition, named in honor of the late father of the GACH CEO—himself a prominent Islamic leader in the country—was organised by the League of Scholars and Preachers of Soninkara (Gambia Chapter) in partnership with the General Secretariat of Arab Islamic Education (Amanah).

Omar Jammeh from Amanah emphasised the crucial importance of investing one's resources in the advancement of Islam. He also expressed gratitude to Jawara for his unwavering commitment to fostering Islamic development and growth within the country.

Dr. Drammeh urged fellow business leaders and philanthropists to follow the example set by the CEO of GACH Global and contribute to the advancement of Islamic development in the country.

Essa Jawara expressed his gratitude to the organising committee for conducting a successful competition, stating, “Promoting and developing Islamic teachings and education in our country has always been a top priority for the Jawara family, and it will continue to be. This commitment is rooted in the legacy of our parents, and we will faithfully carry it forward.”
