Formed in 2009, the association seeks to invest in the areas of education, health and women empowerment among others.
The group over the past years has been instrumental in blood donation initiative as well as donating essential medical supplies in the area.
In an interview with The Point, Abdoulie Ceesay, president of the association, noted that as president of the association, he thought it wise to initiate the idea and see how best to mitigate climate change by protecting the environment.
"We were able to plant over 350 seedlings of different varieties and the authorities welcomed our idea and supported us. They do not only stop at supporting us but they also joined us in the combating against climate change."
Ceesay, subsequently thanked the Gambia Armed Forces, Department of Forestry, National Youth Council and member of Parliament for Lower Nuimi District for their tireless support in the fight against climate change.
For his part, Tamsir Cham, the member of Parliament for Lower Niumi District, advised both the association and the entire community to put all hands on deck and protect the environment.
