This latest development was revealed by the company during a press conference held at the GTSC conference hall on Wednesday.
“The introduction of the card called TAAMO system, combined with our diverse range of services, reflects GTSC's unwavering commitment to innovation, customer satisfaction, and progress,” said Ba Lamin Darboe, head of finance at GTSC.
He added that they are dedicated to continuously improving their services, investing in state-of-the-art technology and fostering strategic partnerships to ensure they remain the preferred choice for transportation in The Gambia.
Mr. Darboe added that at GTSC, they understand the importance of embracing technological advancements to enhance the travel experience, adding that this is why they are thrilled to introduce their latest innovation – TAAMO card system.
“This cutting-edge solution enables passengers to enjoy the convenience of cashless transportation services. With the TAAMO card, customers can effortlessly pay for their fares using a secure and user-friendly electronic card, eliminating the need for cash transactions,” he added.
According to him, GTSC has also expanded the school transport system by adding 7 new buses to the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education fleet through the partnership with the Gambia government.
“This extension is intended to align with the growing number of commuting students, enhancing punctuality and safety through standardised transportation services.”
He noted that they are currently in discussion with the Higher Education Ministry to facilitate that of university students by providing a conducive educational environment in Faraba Bantang for the upcoming semesters.
Mr. Darboe revealed that GTSC also introduced a new route which aims to revitalise and enhance the company’s services by reinstating previously cancelled routes due to limited fleet capacity, adding that the fleet expansion gave birth to new services from Kanifing to Koina, Bambali to Lamin Koto via Farafenni, amongst others.
“To complement our fleet expansion, GTSC will construct 70 state- of- the art solar powered bus shelters. These structures offer commuters a secure sanctuary, protecting them from harsh weather conditions while minimising accident risks.”
As GTSC strives to become the dominant market force within the sub-region, the company’s head of Finance stated that they had expanded their operations from The Gambia to Senegal.
