Born in Atlanta, Georgia, the rising music sensation has spent the entire 2024 on new songs, after her debut in The Gambia in January of that year.
Working in Atlanta with genius producer- NO FACE and forming alliances with some of the best producers, artists and music labels, she is preparing for what is believed to be some of the best songs of her career.
Her resilience and dedication to quality work has earned her nominations and awards such as 2023 Foreign Artist of the Year and performed at the Hero's Award as well as the Q-CELL 5G launch, all of which has undoubtedly earned her a rightful place in the Senegambian music space evident by bookings in Europe, Gambia, America, Senegal and beyond.
Following the release of her hit song titled –‘Sunkuto’ featuring renowned Gambian star- ST aka Brikama Boyo, Mary subsequently embarked on the release of her ‘Live Album, which features all her hit songs and notably a rendition of ‘Halel Daaye Maga’, a once chart dominating song by the Gambian Legendary Band Ifangbondi.
In this same album, Mary Njie also paid respect (homage) to her mentor, the late Thione Ballago Seck with a 6-song medley of some of his best songs.
Although born in the US, she spent 5 years in The Gambia where she attended the prestigious Marina High School and learnt to speak the native languages of Wollof and Mandinka.
During this time, she became well-seasoned in mastering some of Gambian culture, which has definitely contributed to her impeccable and empathetic nature instilled by her Gambian parents - Ablie Njie her father and manager, who is a native of Banjul and her mother, Fatou Touray originally from Bakau.
Recently featured on a popular Gambian Radio talk show aired on West Coast Radio dubbed- "Coffee Time" hosted by Peter Gomez featuring her hit song ‘Angel’, Mary was quick to state that she is a Gambian before anything else.
The promising star is a proud Gambian, even though her father and manager may share different opinion, who insists on calling her a ‘GAMBRICAN.’
Now working on an international journey with her diverse style in different music genres including reggae, afro beat, mbalax and R&B, Mary aspires for global recognition including Grammys, backed and fueled by her incredible Mary Music Entertainment Management team located in different parts of the globe.
Her projects in The Gambia include featuring with two of Gambia's renowned artists- Jali Madi in a song titled “FO EMA LONG’ and with another rising female sensation, Awa Gambia on another song titled “YAABI MA” slated for release in the first quarter of 2025.
Currently in Dakar, Mary will also be appearing at the 2025 ST Brikama Boyo Album Launch slated for Saturday, February 1, 2025, where she hopes to perform and entertain her Gambian fans.
Her work in Senegal comprises her upcoming single titled ‘NIEMEKO’ and some major collabos’ with some of Senegal’s top and renowned male and female artists.
