86-year-old Gambian tested positive for covid19

Officials of the Ministry of Health have yesterday confirmed to The Point that an 86-year-old Gambian has contracted the coronavirus.

The case has brought the total number of Gambia’s infections to 64, with three deaths.

The patient has no recent travel history out of the country. He is reported to have come in contact with the Covid-19 Response Team through the 1025 Hotline after the observation of symptoms similar to covid-19, health officials say.

At least two patients have recovered from the virus, bringing the total active cases to 27.
