President of Gambians in Turkey raises alarm over ‘migrant detentions’
Members of the Gambian community in Turkey have elected Saidou Baldeh as their new president, with the youth leader pledging to advocate for the welfare and rights of Gambians living in the country. Speaking after his election on Sunday, Baldeh called on the Gambian government to pay greater attention to the plight of Gambians detained in Turkish prisons, particularly those accused of attempting to enter Europe through irregular migration routes.
